Max M. Bennett,
83, of Fairborn, died at 3:10 AM Friday, February 1, 2008 in
Day Springs Rehab Center, Fairborn. Born June 10, 1924 in
South Charleston, he was a son of Ned and Wanna (Hamilton)
Bennett.Max had been a polygraph operator at BCI for 20
years, after which he had been employed as a claims adjuster
with Nationwide Insurance for 20 years. Max had served in
the US Army Air Corps during WWII, and stayed in the US Air
Force Reserves, before retiring as a Colonel in 1984. A
member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Enon, he was also a
member of Dayton FOP, Lodge #44, and was a lifetime member
of VFW Post #8437, Enon. Survivors include his wife Shirley
(MacLean) Bennett, daughter Deborah (Chuck) Buerke of Fort
Wayne, IN, granddaughter Holly Rust of Fort Wayne; step sons
Doug Schmid (Lori Dennis) and Larry (Bonnie) Schmid all of
Springfield, step grandchildren Joshua Cooper and Jessica
Schmid, sisters Merle Click of Springfield, Rhea (John)
Mantle of London and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents, first wife Charlotte
(Green) Bennett on October 16, 1978, brothers Norman, Ned,
Donald, Arnold and Bernard and sisters Jean Miller and Donna
Snyder. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday in
the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main Street,
London, Ohio 43140 with Reverends Bruce Kramer and Robert
Kline officiating. Interment will follow in Somerford
Township Cemetery, London. Friends may call at the funeral
home from 2-5 PM Sunday. If they wish, friends may make
memorial contributions to either St. Andrew Lutheran Church,
7128 Stine Rd, Enon, OH 45323 or the Parkinson's Foundation
