Col. Dana T. Caldwell, (Ret.), USAF, age 79, of Powell,
Ohio, went to meet his Lord on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at home with his
family at his side. Born in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Jewel and E.E.
Caldwell, he was a graduate of Gallia Academy and Ohio University. Dana entered
the
United States Air Force
after college and began a distinguished 21+ year career culminating in his
promotion to Commander, 355th Tactical Air Lift Squadron, Rickenbacker Air Base,
Lockbourne, Ohio. He was a faithful member of Dublin Baptist Church and was the
first protestant usher at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church! Dana is survived by
his beloved wife of 50 years, Bernie Caldwell; sons, Charles Caldwell of Upper
Arlington, Ohio, John (Kaya) Caldwell of Atlanta, GA, Andrew Caldwel, of Powell
and Chris Caldwell of New York City; grandchildren, Alee, Samantha and Joshua;
brothers and sister, Col. Jim Caldwell of Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Richard (Greta)
Caldwell of Upper Arlington, Dr. Julian Caldwell of Granville, Ohio, Elizabeth
Matthews of Gallipolis and their families; and numerous friends. Family will
receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. SUNDAY at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT
POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio 43065, (614)-792-1471. (The funeral
home is located on W. Olentangy St./Powell Rd./SR 750 1/4 mile east of Sawmill
Parkway.) Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. MONDAY, August 9, 2010 at the
DUBLIN BAPTIST CHURCH, 7195 Coffman Road, Dublin, Ohio 43017 with Pastor Darrel
Gabbard, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Resurrection
Cemetery, Lewis Center, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider
