ROWCLIFFE George Stephen Rowcliffe, Lt. Col., U.S.A.F.
(Retired), of Columbus, Oh., passed away peacefully on August 25, 2003 after an
extended illness. Born on August 24, 1933 in Peoria, Il. and a 1950 graduate of
Dunlap High School. Graduate of Pilot Training Class 55-I; 40 years of
distinguished service, served in Vietnam, served as Chief of Aerial Spray,
Rickenbacker A.F.B., Oh.; Command Pilot with over 15,000 flight hours. An
active member of the Reserve Officer Assn., The Buckeye Wing Assn., The N.R.A.,
The Republican Party, Columbus Computer Society and graduate of Park College -
Magna Cum Laude. Preceded in death by parents Katherine States and James H. Rowcliffe
and brother Maurice Crain of Illinois. Survived by daughter, Katherine
Rowcliffe Daniel (Ronald); granddaughters, Chastity, Chelsea and Catrina;
former wife, Florence S. Rowcliffe; sisters, Mary Jean McGinnes and Martha
(Joseph) Rogers of Illinois; and brother, James H. Rowcliffe, Jr. of Colorado;
other family, Jean (Dennis) Johnson of Minn., Barbara (Mark) Yeaton of Il.; and
numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Helen Crain. Friends may call
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard,
where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Jim Browne
officiating. A funeral service will also be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 1,
2003 at the Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, Il. with a graveside service
with military honors to be held after the service at Princeville Twp. Cemetery,
Princeville, Il. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to McConnell
Heart Health Center, 3773 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43214 in George's
memory.
